He joined Barcelona for €32.5m, becoming the second most expensive defender to date, after Rio Ferdinand's transfer from Leeds United to Manchester United in 2002 for around £30 million.

Born in Juazeiro, Bahia, Dani Alves made his professional debut for Esporte Clube Bahia in a match against Paraná Clube, for the 2001 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Bahia won 3–0, with Alves providing two assists and winning a penalty for the other goal.

After 2002–03, on loan to Sevilla from Bahia, Alves travelled to play in the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship where he impressed as Brazil won the tournament. He was named as the third best player of the tournament

As time went by, Alves consolidated his role as both a defender and part of the attack in the Sevilla team that in 2005/06 won the UEFA Cup. The Brazilian was named best player in that competition, and a few months later, won the Super Cup as his side beat FC Barcelona in Monaco.

TOTY Dani Alves. Where to begin. Lets start by saying I picked up Alves for a hefty price of 860k as one of my TOTY investments and although I had heard great things about him, I had no first hand experience. And then I used him.. WOWZERZ! I have played around 30 games now with this player so I feel I can give a reasonably accurate review, and although players very under the control of each user but when your going to be forking out what will soon be close to 1 Million coins for a player it's always nice to know there IS hope!!

Pace- 93 pace is absolutely blistering for someone in the RM position who has such well rounded stats although alike a lot of the other players on Ultimate team due to his high ball control it he does not feel quite as fast ON the ball, however when perusing or hunting down a player with Alves the opposition has no hope. I have no complaints what so ever about his pace.

Dribbling- 88 dribbling is outstanding for any player let alone a RB. He can weave in and out of players like it's nobody's business !! Absolutely incredible however at full sprint with his blistering pace his touch is slightly heavier (as expected) this in turn allows him to sprint even faster with the ball (feels like 90ish) so nothing to cry about.

Shooting- 76 shooting... LIE! this mans longshot is phenomenal, his power is ludacris and most of the time he finds the top bin.. MOST of the time.. Sometimes I have noticed he will pull an absolute shocker, which confused me however this may be due to the fact that I almost tried to force the Longshot in the stupidest of situations so don't quote me on that. However he does have something like 67 finishing and although his finishing has been so clinical for me, don't expect him to slot away every finesse etc.

Defending- 86, absolutely amazing wins sooo many challenges along that right flank and never ceases to amaze me. (Stat self explanatory)

Passing- This is awesome I've found his crossing to be spectacular and on point and his over the top through balls/through balls have been the best. He is an awesome play maker and can thread a pass alright!
Heading- Not really important along that RM position but does win a fair few headers when needed.

Free Kicks- Now this is what I was most surprised about, even after scoring 87th minute longshots from close to half way into the top corner to win the game, after miraculous tackles steaming back from attack to steal the ball off the attackers, knock them to the floor and thread a killer pass for the counter and weaving through entire defences. His Free Kicks are out of this world, Every FK I have taken with him I either scored or hit the bar, not once has the keeper saved it and I have taken a fair few. He has immense dip and accuracy and the power behind it is scary. His curled free kicks are driven and just dip below the bar. OUTSTANDING FK !!

and finally his workrates. I find his workrates were more than perfect and you will find for a low defences workrate he back tracks A LOT and helps out at the whilst at the same time is in the attack scoring goals. He is everywhere at once.

All in all he is the best player I have used on UT so far and if you have the coins MOST DEFINITELY splash the cash, you will not regret it. As through buying TOTY Dani Alves your not just buying a player but your effectively buying a team. I would happily play him anywhere on the park and at times was even guilty of putting him at ST. Pick him up, and never look back.
