Pep từng cảnh báo Barca
Tháng 5/2011, Pep Guardiola đưa Barca trở lại với đỉnh số 1 châu Âu, sau khi đánh bại Man United 3-1 trong trận chung kết Champions League ở Thánh địa Wembley. Ngay lập tức, Pep gặp Chủ tịch Sandro Rosell để thảo luận về kế hoạch làm mới Barca.

Đúng một năm sau, Pep rời Camp Nou với chỉ danh hiệu Cúp Nhà Vua. Pep xác định chia tay Barca vì các đề nghị của mình không được xem trọng. Ông im lặng và bước vào những tháng ngày nghỉ ngơi trên đất Mỹ.
Sau mùa giải thành công với Tito Vilanova, tính trên mặt trận La Liga, Barca đang gặp khó khăn cùng Tata Martino. Từ đầu năm 2014, Barca đánh mất 13 điểm trong 10 trận đấu. Từ chỗ hơn Real 5 điểm, Barca đang “hít khói” kình địch không đội trời chung.
Trong đó, 5 trận sân khách gần nhất ở La Liga, Barca chỉ thắng duy nhất 1 trận. Ở Camp Nou là bầu không khí ngột ngạt với quá nhiều vấn đề, từ thượng tầng cho đến phòng thay đồ, và cả trong đội ngũ BHL. Hai trợ lý của Martino suýt choảng nhau trong trận thua Valladolid.
Bây giờ, người ta mới nhớ lại lời cảnh báo của Pep: “Barcelona có thể cạnh tranh các danh hiệu, nhưng CLB không cho bước nhảy vọt về chất lượng công việc. CLB có những cầu thủ tài năng, và các giải pháp chiến thuật. Nhưng vấn đề không nằm ở đó. Messi là duy nhất, và phải giúp cậu ấy thoải mái”.
Pep biết Messi cần điều gì

“Tôi luôn hy vọng rằng cậu ấy sẽ không cảm thấy buồn chán, và giữ được sự thoải mái. Như vậy cũng có nghĩa không thất bại. Khi cậu ấy thi đấu không tốt, là bởi vì một cái gì đó trong môi trường của đội bóng không thực sự tốt. Những người quản lý CLB phải đủ thông minh để đăng ký những gì ông muốn”.
Có hai vấn đề mà Pep nhắc đến: 1) chuyện hợp đồng của Messi. 2) tìm đối tác trên hàng công cho Messi.
Cristiano Ronaldo được tăng lương, mới đây cả Rooney cũng ẵm bộn tiền trong hợp đồng mới. Nhưng Messi vẫn chưa được cải thiện thu nhập. Cách đây không lâu, Leo từng thẳng thừng chỉ trích phó chủ tịch Javier Faus “không biết gì về bóng đá”. Trước đó, ông Faus bảo rằng, “không thấy lý do để dành cho Messi hợp đồng mới”.
